Synopsis

Synopsis

A poetic drama by Vida Kashani and Amir Komelizadeh.

Between the serene stillness of the Wadden Sea and the restless pulse of Groningen’s city life, Schoem unfolds the intimate story of Hades — a young skipper watching his family drift apart. As the tides of change move faster than he can navigate, Hades faces the quiet storms of loss, transformation, and the unexpected bonds that keep us afloat.
Inspired by Ingeborg Nienhuis’ novella Schoem of De voarende Zoltkamper, this short film weaves poetic realism with emotional resonance. Directors Kashani and Komelizadeh draw on their own intercultural roots to craft a piece that is both disarmingly simple and visually bold — a cinematic journey anchored in human connection.
